A downloadable game
To play this game you will need:
- Any type of map of any place: real, imaginary, on earth, in space, etc.
- A deck of playing cards.
- Something to write with.
- A patch of earth.
- Spare time in the amount of ten years.
If time is short (and when is it not?) you can imagine playing instead of actually playing. To imagine playing this game, you will need:
- A map, real or imagined, of a real or imaginary place.
- An imagined character with an imagined past.
- An imagined future you, imagining the imaginary past of your imaginary character.

A game involving cartography. Woo, count me in! Cartography feels mysterious and intrepid and Strata feels like it captures and embraces so much of that. I could see myself making a ton of these and the time capsule aspect (whether honored or ignored for regular play) feels like such a cherry on top. I might bury one in my backyard and eagerly await the timeline… Or if I sell my house, leave some coordinates for the next buyer!
